eZine advertising is the latest trend in marketing. Since almost everyone turns
to the Internet for information - whether for research or entertainment purposes
- eZine advertising has easily become the most effective and most cost saving
means of advertising.
An eZine is an electronic magazine that contains information on various topics.
It caters to the interests of a wide range of readers, so there's bound to be
a large readership for eZines. This means a large readership for your ads too!
How to Make the Most Out of eZine Advertising
Here are some tips to help you get started on eZine advertising and to ensure
you do it the right way.
Evaluate the eZine. Determine the quality of the eZine where
you want to publish your ads.
• Subscribe to three of the best eZines. Compare them in terms of the
content, audience and the number of ads per publication.
• A good sign is if you see the same ads a lot. This means that the advertiser
must be satisfied with the results.
• Check out if someone with the same product already advertises in the
eZine. This may not be good for your business. (The eZine may not allow this
either.)
Keep your eZine ads short. The eZine may have restrictions
on the length of your ad. Don’t worry; use this ad not to sell but to
generate interest and leads. It also helps to have a catchy headline.
Landing page. eZine advertising is meant to bring prospects
to a landing page on your site upon clicking the ad. As such, make sure your
landing page rocks.
Monitor ad responses. This will help you determine if eZine
advertising is working for you. Publish in two or more eZines for comparison.
This will help you narrow down the problems if eZine advertising proves to be
ineffective.
Types of Ads
Solo ad - This is an email that is sent to everyone on the
ezine publishers mailing list and contains only your offer. Since your offer
stands alone, or goes solo, it gets much more response.
Sponsor ad - This ad appears at the top of the ezine and is
seen by every reader. Since these readers want to receive the ezine (remember,
the reader asked for the ezine by subscribing, also called opt-in) they look
at these ads and respond to them.
Classified ad - Just like the ads in your newspaper, a classified
ad is usually three or five lines of text, including a headline, the ad body
and a link to click. These ads are very cheap to buy, and work well but not
as well as a solo ad. The key here is to be consistent and run ads in more than
one issue. After all, few of us buy something the first time we see it.
