Link Exchange Link Exchange

With the Internet as one of the most popular and most effective mediums for conducting business, different Internet marketing techniques have been developed. One of this is to exchange links with other websites.

Link exchange is when your site contains a link to another site. In return, you expect this gesture to be reciprocated by that other site.

Why Link Exchange?

Exchanging links with other sites is relevant because your site gets a higher page rank when it is 'popular' this way. With a higher page rank, your site appears higher on search engine results pages, giving you more visibility to potential consumers.

There are two types of link exchanges: reciprocal link exchange and non-reciprocal link exchange.

Reciprocal Link Exchanges

Reciprocal link exchanges is when you MUST put another website's link (URL) on your site before the other sites lists your link on theirs.

Non-Reciprocal Link Exchanges

Non-reciprocal link exchange is when your site's link or URL appears on other sites without you having to feature their link at all. Usually, this occurs when somebody is making a review of a product, service or industry and the site owner decides to mention your site in his review. There are also plenty of websites that offers Directory or Resources section to their site visitors and would be more than glad to include your link IF your online business relates to theirs.

How to Exchange Links

Exchanging links can be done by filling out an online submission form on the site where you want to be listed or by contacting the site owner or webmaster.

Link Exchange - Choose Wisely!

When choosing sites to link to, be sure to make credibility your top consideration. Credible sites are those containing the same information and keywords as your site. Search engines assign value to sites with relevant links.

As such, you should avoid linking to sites such as the following:

• FFA sites
• link farms
• sites on unrelated topics
