One way to ensure the success of your online business is to publish your own
ezine (a.k.a. online magazine, newsletter, e-publication, etc.). Not only will
an ezine help you keep in constant touch with your customers, it will also enable
you to build a strong database of targeted consumers. You can also earn a little
extra cash from your own ezine by selling ad space.
An ezine can be sent via email or simply posted on your site. With the latter,
you of course still need to send out an email to your subscribers that the newsletter
is now posted and ready for viewing.
Getting Started with Your Own eZine
Before you start asking people to sign up for your ezine, ensure that you are
ready not only for an initial publication but that you have content for at least
six issues upfront. It is not good if you are not prepared because if you rush
your ezine, you might end up with a less-than-average looking newsletter and
this may result in subscription cancellations. You can write your own content,
hire someone to write it for you or even source them from ezine directories.
Apart from publishing valuable content, ensure that it is backed up by a professional-looking
ezine design.
Now that your ezine is ready for publication, start promoting it. Place a newsletter
sign up form on your website so your site visitors can easily opt-in. In addition,
'announce' your ezine in several newsletter announcement mailing lists. You
can also list yourself in newsletter online directories.
Lastly, sending out ezines to a growing database may prove hard to manage.
So be on the search for free and/or paid software that will help you publish
your ezine and manage your subscription base at the same time.
